CH 8: The Plague of Frogs...The Lord told Moses to let Pharaoh know that if he didn't let the Israelites go, there would be a plague of frogs like never seen before across the entire land. Pharaoh again refused. So the Lord told Moses to have Aaron raise the staff above the Nile and frogs came up and completely overwhelmed Egypt's lands, homes, frogs were in their beds! It was horrific. But, the magicians were able to do this as well, and Pharaoh's heart hardened. So, the Lord had Aaron raise the staff and this time he hit the ground with it, and gnats (plague of gnats) overwhelmed the entire land of Egypt, and covered the people and the animals. Very horrific. This time though, the magicians could not duplicate this but Pharaoh's heart remained hard. Now the Lord told Moses to tell Pharaoh that this next plague would be of flies, but the land of Goshen where the Israelites were would be spared entirely. In this way Pharaoh would see that God was in control of it all, including Pharaoh's land!
The plague of flies was so awful that Pharaoh gave in! He told Moses to go! Leave the land and worship their God, only bring relief to Egypt and stop this plague of flies. So, Moses prayed the flies away, but Pharaoh, as soon as the flies were gone, went back on his word and refused to let the people go.
CH 9: The Plague Against Livestock... The Lord warned Pharaoh through Moses that all the livestock of Egypt (but not the Israelites' livestock) would die the next day if he didn't let the people go, and Pharaoh remained stubborn, so the following day all the livestock began to die, except for the Israelites' livestock. Even though Pharaoh had this investigated and knew that only the Israelites animals were healthy, not a single one died, his heart remained hard. The Lord then sent the plague of festering boils upon the Egyptians. The magicians could not reproduce this, but Pharaoh's heart remained hard.
The next plague was of hail and the hailstorm was so tremendous with terrifying lightening that all their crops were destroyed. Egypt's land was destroyed including trees! This time, Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, I have sinned- go! And pray this hailstorm away! But again, as soon as the hailstorm stopped, Pharaoh went back on his word and wouldn't let the people go.
CH 10: The plague of locusts was the next one that the Lord unleashed upon the people of Egypt after warning Pharaoh to let the people go. This time Pharaoh's officials came to him and pleaded to let the Israelites go, that Egypt now was in ruins because of their God! But after talking with Moses, Pharaoh's heart was hardened again and so the locusts were unleashed. Again, Pharaoh summoned Moses, promised to let the people go if he prayed the locusts away, and again went back on his promise. This time the Lord sent the plague of darkness to the land of Egypt. But there was light as usual where the Israelites lived in Goshen. The darkness was so thick you could feel it, no one could see another person even if they stood directly in front of them. It was utterly complete this darkness. But again, Pharaoh begged for Moses to pray the darkness away, saying he'd let the people go... and yes, again, went back on his word.
